Senior Instrument Commissioning Technician

SAIPEM – FPSO KAOMBO NORTE – SEMBAWANG SHIPYARD – The FPSO was birthed in Singapore Sembawang shipyard for the conversion phase in preparation for Offshore Angola for the production and maintenance phase(Permit to work, Troubleshoots, repairs and inspections according to Isolation standards and Risk assessment standards) Compile Fire and Gas excel spreadsheets for accessibility and maintenance purposes. Check and become familiarized with new equipment and installations for operational and maintenance purposes. Study the operational procedures and follow international standards and regulations on installations and inspections. Witness loop checks and OTP’s. Tri party (RFC’s) walk downs with the client. (Line walks). Do punching and follow up on unsatisfactory, incomplete installations. Check hook up drawings, data sheets, P&ID’s, check segregation of different metals for the prevention of galvanic corrosion. Do inspections on the Fire and Gas, Cargo tank loading instruments, Turret, Topside instrument, Engine room, Pump room etc. Assist Construction, pre-commissioning, Inspections. Doing recommendations on hookup drawings and general arrangements of instruments. Function checks on GTG’s. Consult with Vendor on new equipment. Capturing daily activities and attend meetings. Commissioning of the Fire and Gas system (Smoke, Gas, Flame and beam detectors)

Instrument Technician

WOOD GROUP – FPSO PSVM – BLK 31 – Instrument Technician – I was an integral member of the maintenance team on PSVM BLK 31 Angola delivering a wide variety of services. Completed a range of mandatory computer base training courses (CBT’s). This included HITRA (Hazardous identification task risk assessments). Also worked at heights, slips, trips and falls. Manual handling awareness, Environmental Awareness, Personal safety and security and lifting operations awareness. Authorised gas testing, Confined space entry and COSHH awareness. Systems included Yokogawa FF control system as well as Siemens system integrated. Performed daily updates on CMMS. E-logbook handovers at the end of each shift and crew changes. Performed inspections, troubleshoots and routine repairs and maintenance on a regular basis. Attended to all call outs. Performed the role of performing authority, isolating authority in the frame work of the integrated safe system of work – Permit to work (ISSOW). Agree work schedule and priorities with the Wood Group Kianda Supervisor and planner. Worked in close relationship with the Supervisor. Appointed as the control valve specialist on the major valves (Overhauls and repairs). Identified all actual and potential hazards and instituted mitigation actions as a part of the HITRA (Hazardous Identification and Task Risk Assessments). Successfully utilised innovative solutions to repair faulty equipment safely and effectively according to all safety standards. Health checks performed on rotating equipment such as compressors and turbines. Manage platform based critical spares, ensuring the correct spares holding and adequate storage. Successfully troubleshoots the Instrument air compressor system, repairs, and commissioned. Undertake system modifications as per approved work packs and authorised e-MOC. Weekly functional test perform of the emergency generators. Actively involved in the leek and seep (LANDS) tests. Trained, supported and developed Angolan nationals as well as peers across the multi disciplined operations. Complied with Wood Group Kianda and BP’s HSE and Quality policies and procedures. Participated in safety briefings and toolbox talks.



Senior Instrument Technician

AVENG GRINAKER LTA – MINING & MINERALS – Senior Instrument Technician – Oversaw, led and directed a team of 60 construction staff spanning various disciplines. Conducted daily safety talks and resource planning. Actively involved in the decision making process for equipment used. Construction of a new Manganese Plant in Kalagadi Working with client in designing office. Organised, analysed and issued P&ID and I/O allocation drawings in order to increase productivity. Saved time by directly contributing to the PLC and DCS drawing. Instrument & Measurement Technician
